London, the biography.

London as you've never seen it before.

If you love London this book, 'The London Biography' by Peter Ackroyd, is one you can’t afford to miss.

It is, however, fairly heavy going and I got through it by reading sixty pages a week. Still, I think my efforts were amply rewarded.

Definitely a book for anyone living in London. Riots for example are quite a common feature of London's history and the only reason there has been so much panic concerning the last one is that it was the first riot to enter everyone’s living in wide-screen, high definition colour. Then, the same violent scenes - in close-up, instead of being shown just once, were shown again and again and again and again! But like many of the riots before, rain cooled everybody’s ardour and life in the city quickly returned to normal.

Heavy going though it was at times, I thought it a terrific book.
