MEMORY

While sitting at my desk,
I remembered something I'd forgotten,
But on my way to the computer,
As I passed my elderly mother's door,
I remembered that she did not like me to forget,
To as I passed call out a greeting.
But after I'd remembered,
What my mother didn't wish me to forget,
I realised that I'd forgotten,
The thing I'd remembered,
I'd forgotten.
So now at the computer,
I can only remember,
That I've forgotten,
Something I remembered,
I'd forgotten.
And because I'm old I'm also sure,
That before long I'll forget,
That I couldn't remember,
The thing I remembered,
I'd forgotten.
